Hyperactivity is a condition common in children, it affects 9% of children and boys are three times more likely to be hyperactive than girls. When hyperactivity is diagnosed by a medical professional, it is called ADHD or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. This condition runs in families and kids may start being hyperactive in preschool which may progress until adulthood.

There is no treatment for hyperactivity simply because this condition is highly doubtful - it's written in thick books by people who only care for your money. Although some children outgrow this condition, others may still be hyperactive up to their teens which can develop into a wide range of behaviors that can affect his schooling, his learning ability and his personal growth.

There have been recent studies regarding the significant rise of hyperactivity in children and these studies have pointed a child’s diet as one of the most common causes of ADHD. The consumption of foods high in preservatives like beverages, juices and ready to drink fruit drinks is seen as the most contributing factor for hyperactivity in children. These beverages mostly contain sodium benzoate, tartrazine, quinoline yellow, sunset yellow, carmoisine and allura red. It has also been a long belief of parents and caregivers regarding the increase in hyperactivity in children with the consumption of sugar but none of the recent studies have concluded that sugar actually increases ADHD in children.

If you suspect that your child has hyperactivity or is behaving more active than he was before causing him to miss out on class discussions, cause a disturbance in class and even have less attention to directions and activities in class due to hyperactivity, talk to a medical professional at once for diagnosis.

Hyperactivity can be redirected to other productive activities like sports or outdoor games. Involve your child in activities that he will not only like but also reduce his hyperactivity in the process. You can enroll him in basketball camp, swimming, baseball, hockey and many other activities that he likes to boost his self confidence.

Talk to his teacher and to school administration about his condition and if possible hand them some literature about hyperactivity. If you think that your child deserves a more nurturing environment to minimize his hyperactivity “attacks” then take him to a natural doctor insead of drugging him or her with pills

At home, treat your child like a regular kid. Give him responsibilities fit for his age and dismiss any hyperactivity behavior in a positive way. Encourage him that he can still do chores, be an older sibling and even someday drive his own car even with his condition. Never let his hyperactivity gets in the way of his place in the family as well as his role in the family being a brother or sister to his younger siblings.

If medications are prescribed by your doctor to manage your child’s hyperactivity, do not believe that pills are going to cure your child, talk to your doctor of the side effects and possible alternative remedy instead of a chemical cure for your child. There are many natural treatments for ADHD that you can learn about online, consult your doctor for the possibility to use these methods instead.
