Everyone is likely to have suffered from neck pain and headaches at one point or another; especially sports people and athletes. It might drive you crazy when you sense that sensation creeping from your neck and upwards to eyes and temple. It is integral that you are capable of telling a physician exactly what is happening in precise details. He or she will be able to make a more correct diagnosis of your situation. They will know whether it is caused from injury or stress. Understanding the link and basis of neck pain and headaches is quite important. It is also true of when you have a stiff neck, that all that tension and discomfort in the neck can trigger a headache.
Neck pain can result from sleeping in a very bad position. Cervical spasm is what doctors’ term as a stiff neck. Discomfort triggers this, and though it is not a serious condition it can be very uncomfortable and painful at times. You will get this if your pillow does not address the support needs of your head and neck while you are sleeping; also if you are sleeping in a wrong posture. If this is to an extreme in one night, then you will get neck pain and headaches in the morning.
If you have very poor posture, you will get very bad neck pain and headaches. The other downside to this is that the individual might not even see the correlation between the two. A lot of people are not aware of the fact that they have very bad posture. Hence the intensity of the pain and discomfort just keeps getting worse. Some of the following are very bad habits:
hauling a bulky bag on your shoulders
the PC is set either too high or too low when you are using it for extended periods of time
reading at the same time as you are laying in your divan
sitting in a warped arched arrangement facing the TV
walking with a stoop
Neck pain and headaches can also be caused from various medical conditions. Did you know that this situation can be the result of high blood pressure or even Meningitis? If your neck discomfort gets very bad at the time that you move your chin downwards then you might have meningitis. Also neck pain and headaches are common if you have been in an accident or had a concussion.
If you are suffering from any of these conditions, do not ignore it. Make sure you go see a doctor.
