During pregnancy, the woman’s body undergoes drastic changes to make room for the developing infant. As your doctor would say, every pregnancy is different. You may suffer from morning sickness, aches and headaches on your first born while the second pregnancy will seem like a breeze. There are a lot of pregnancy aches that you will soon discover during the long nine months ahead; it is very common for a mom to be concerned about any pains and aches since any discomfort could mean problems concerning the baby.
Determining which pregnancy aches are normal and which ones are not, is the best way to learn about your body and your unborn child. Here are some of the normal pregnancy aches that a mother usually experiences:
Low and bearing pains are common especially when your pregnancy has reached its last trimester. The infant is becoming bigger and bigger each day and the natural fall of gravity as you stand can cause low and bearing pains. Pain of this type may also be persistent when you lie down with the entire weight of your belly pressing your back. The best position is to lie sideways; use a long pillow to support the belly, the hips and your legs.
Tender and sore pains on the abdomen are also normal pregnancy aches that are usually felt over the navel. This is basically due to your engorged belly getting bigger each month. This is more pronounced on the last few weeks of pregnancy.
Waist and hip pain are also common pains which can also be due to your pregnant belly. You can remedy these by applying warm compresses or using a warm blanket as you sit or lie down.
Pains on the lower extremities are more pronounced as your baby starts to gain more weight. You can easily remedy this through walking, moving, applying compresses or ointments to reduce pain.
There are dull pains as baby begins to move more frequently from the start of the second trimester up to the last minutes of pregnancy.
Not so normal pains of pregnancy must be consulted immediately to your doctor. When a pregnant woman is nearing her term, she should have access to emergency medical services whenever possible and be accompanied by a responsible adult as well.
Splitting pains anywhere on the belly is a sign of impending labor.
Strong contractions from inside the belly and felt more on the underside of the belly is also a sign of labor and if a pregnant woman is not yet on her term, she is in for a premature labor and delivery.
Chest pains, headaches and increased blood pressure are also emergency signs of complications of pregnancy.
Sharp vaginal pains may be a sign of infection or may also be a sure sign of impending labor. Internal vaginal pains are also a sign of complications of pregnancy; the mother should be taken to an emergency medical facility right away.
